In this latest episode of The Overlap, the guys sit down with Bryan Hodges, owner of Mako Services, to talk about leadership in small business.
A self-proclaimed college “dropout,” Bryan worked as a plumber, an electrician assistant and insurance adjuster before starting his construction company, Mako Services, in 2015.
Bryan shares about the grit and determination it took to build Mako from the ground up, and through his story we gain valuable insight into what it takes to build a business that will last. Bryan and the guys discuss the importance of being able to lead yourself before you even think about leading others, and the importance of recognizing where you’re weak in an area. When we understand where we’re weak and recruit people with those strengths, we can take our business to the next level. “The only way to grow is to let go of control. You can have growth or you can have control—you cannot have both,” says Bryan.
If you lead people in any capacity, you will want to listen to this episode.
